Yes, I am still cooking my Sunday dinners! On the menu tonight: Chicken cacciatore, mushroom risotto, parmesan polenta, garlic roasted broccoli. Let me tell you, it was quite a feast! I took photos which I will share, along with the recipes, this week. How was your Sunday?

Private Sewing Lessons in the Clear Lake Area

I'm always happy when new people find me via my little blog here. I have met quite a few amazing women who have come for private sewing lessons after finding me here. Many of my students at Jo-Ann's ask if I do private classes. The fun thing about private lessons, aside from getting much more guidance and help, is that you get to make the projects that you like. When you come into a retail environment, you have a select list of classes from which to choose. When you go private, you're in the drivers seat and you pick the projects.

For some (like my three Clear Lake gals) it's a fun night out with the girls, a few hours away from the kids, a couple of hours to do something fun, to be with friends, to have a glass of wine (or a Skinnygirl Margarita), while learning a new hobby and making some fun projects.

Patterns On Sale

My favorite sale (patterns!) and a pattern shopping tip kick off my first post of 2011. Some great deals are at Hancock Fabrics and Jo-Ann. From 1/13 to 1/17 check out Hancock for McCall's (5/$5), Vogue ($3.99), and Simplicity ($1.99). From 1/13 to 1/15 check out Jo-Ann for McCall's & Butterick ($1.99). From 1/16-1/22, check out Jo-Ann for Simplicity (99 cents). Limit of 10 on all of these.

All of these pattern-makers have web sites where you can leisurely peruse patterns from your computer. I write down the numbers of the patterns I want to buy before heading to the store, then I just buy from my list. I get in an out of the store faster, and I do my browsing when I have time at home. It's my preferred way to pattern shop.
