Products such as Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Avon, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Nerium, Amway, and many others are sold through multi-level marketing, or MLM, where people are paid, not only on what they sell, but also on what is sold by others they recruit. I would think most people have sold products via MLM, bought them, or been asked to buy or sell them. It seems inevitable that you're eventually going to be invited to a party or other event where you'll be offered a chance to purchase these products, or asked if you'd like to sell them.
I've sold, bought, been asked to sell, asked others to sell via MLM. In my experience, the sales pitch to recruit new sellers with promises of tremendous income potential don't end up being true for the majority of sellers. Relatively few achieve the level of success to get the free cars and trips that are used to entice them. Have you ever participated in buying/selling/being recruited for any of these types of products?
What are your thoughts?
Personally, I'm not a fan of any of these parties and have been invited to several of them through co-workers and politely decline. It's not really my thing. Most of the time I'm not a fan of the products to begin with, like thirty one parties. Items are extremely over priced and I hate the pressure. My friend is forever pressured into having a party, hosting a party and recruiting new sellers. I feel like it's a fad like when people (including myself) used to have purse parties.

Thanks, Dina. I'm with you on the MLM. In my experience, the goal is often more about recruiting sellers than delivering a product people are excited about. Few people seem excited to go to these "parties." In my experience, most people attend because they feel obliged because a friend invited them. They also feel obliged to buy something for the same reason. They rarely seem to attend or buy because they're genuinely excited about the product.
DeleteJust my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary. ;-)
